Federal Entrepreneur - Canada Business Immigration

The Entrepreneur Program seeks to attract experienced business persons who will own and have the intention and ability to actively manage a Canadian business that will positively contribute to the Canadian economy and create jobs for Canadian residents.

Foreign nationals with business ownership and managerial experience, and the intention to actively own and manage a business in Canada and create employment opportunities for Canadian citizens and permanent residents may apply for federal Entrepreneur immigrant visa provided that the following criteria are met:

Requirements Federal Entrepreneur Program
Intended destination Any province in Canada, except Quebec
Minimum net asset CAD$300,000, legally obtained
Business Experience At least two years business ownership and managerial experience in the five years preceding the application
Miscellaneous Medical examination and security background check

The Federal Entrepreneur Program requires you to meet the following conditions for a period of at least one year in the three years after landing as a permanent resident :

  • Establish or purchase and expand an existing Canadian business
  • Control 1/3 of equity of a qualifying Canadian business;
  • Provide active ongoing management to the business; and
  • Create at least one full-time job for a Canadian citizen or permanent resident.
